what wrong with my camera?

So I spent about 10 dollars on Duracell Ultra 123 Lithium batteries for my camera, I took one picture and then all of a sudden it tells me that the batteries are dead and I just bought them! Then after taking the batteries out, I put them back in and when I closed it , it would make this loud clacking sound. Does anyone know what would be wrong with it? ):

My first question would be how old is the camera – been around along time?

It probably needs repair. Any good camera shop can probably help you.
