Camera Jargon

What are the most professional techniques and devices photographers use to photograph themselves?
Besides camera timer settings, and remotes, what are other professional techniques (and what are the technical jargon names for these techniques and devices)?
Although I’m aware only high end camera have remote controlling, providing me the possible purchase info and names of such cameras and extra devices would be most helpful too.
I appreaciate anyone’s assistance as always. Except for sarcasm of course ; )
Your best bet would be for you to set up the lighting, camera, etc. and get a photographer friend, even if he/she isn’t as good as you, to snap the photos. This will give you someone to relate to as you change your poses, chat to get your attention away from the stiff poses, etc.
