Canon EOS 400D SLR + standard lens is good choice?

Hello. All I've asked several times about different camera, so I finally I decided to buy Canon 400D SLR, in comments that I decided it's a very good camera for beginners. I'm already bought for £ 310 (second hand) is good Offer? Includes: Camera Body + Kit lens standard. 1 GB memory card, tripod, battery charger + power cable, USB, remote control strap, cleaning kit and CD's. What more do I need to get started? Camera bag perhaps? Thank you all.

You've paid a reasonable price for this, I have a 400D that the 1000D, but I personally do not like either for many reasons. 1) It seems to me the biggest 300D, XXD, 5D, 1D / s, and the cameras larger ones are more pleasant to hold. You'll probably be fine with the 400D however. 2) 400D and shows the camera after shooting display settings Main LCD …. I find that annoying … but there is nothing wrong with that. 3) The 18-55mm lens is definitely not the best of Canon. I would recommend supplementing with a 50 mm f1.8 for portraits, and its replacement with a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 or f2.8 Tamron 17-50mm or EF17-40mm F4L finally. Other things you should have: 1) The cases of Canon made (the "semi-hard" cases) are crap, I'd recommend or a Lowepro backpack or sling bag. 2) The filters are useful, I'd say 18-skylight 55mm filter and a polarizer – Although it is difficult to use. 3) You may want to upgrade your tripod at some point to something more solid, Manfrotto, Slik, Giottos Gitzo and are the best brands. 4) magazines and photo books will help you develop the technique.
