Google Nexus One Vs The Apple iPhone 3GS
Two of the most talked about mobile phone on the market, are the Google Nexus One and the Apple iPhone. The mobile phone industry is getting really excited about the release of the Google phone. Here, we take a look at what the iPhone and the Nexus One have to offer users who might be interested.
The Google Nexus One, is available in the USA at the moment and should be available in Europe, later in 2010. This handset is called the Nexus One and it is seen as a as a possible iPhone killer for 2010. The Google Nexus One mobile phone handset is the first mobile to be released just by Google. There have been handsets labelled Google Phones before such as the G1 and G2. However, these were only actually using the Google developed android Operating System and were branded by T-Mobile or Vodafone and HTC.
The first Google mobile phone is being manufactured by HTC, because of this we will expect a highyt quailty build. Google have gone for a really sleek and stylish design, which fits neatly into the palm of your hand and slips in and out of your pocket without a struggle. The Google Nexus weighs just 130g, which is slighty lighter than both the Apple iPhone (136g) by 6g, so not really a massive deal.
The Google Nexus One has a great 3.7 inch widescreen, AMOLED display, delivering 720×480 pixels resolution for you to view. The Nexus One has a really sharpe and crisp display screen, it delivers touchscreen responsiveness in the same league as the Apple iPhone and, moreover, it is faster to boot. The combination of Android 2.1 sitting above a Snapdragon CPU clocked at 1GHz with 512Mb of RAM and ROM will enable the user to run a number of applications at the same time, without the phone slowing down or crashing.
The Nexus One, comes with a 5 megapixel, autofocus camera with LED flash (2 megapixels bigger than the iPhone) and its 32GB memory card capacity.
Well, thats what the Google Nexus One has to offer, now we will focus on what you will get from the Apple iPhone. The difference with the iPhone 3GS, is that Apple have added on a few little extras in terms of features. The camera on the iPhone 3GS has been boosted up to a 3 megapixel unit with auto focus, touch focus and also has support for recording videos at up to 30 frames per second. While this is not a great camera, it does do the job and is a improvement on what was previously being offered.
These new extras on the iPhone include the copy & paste, landscape keyboard, shake to undo, MMS, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi auto-login, and support for Youtuve functions. Apple have added some nice little extras and the upgrades are normally free for exisiting customers to download. The battery on the Apple iPhone has been improved and now offers you 12 hours of talk time, 30 hours of audio play or just over 10 hours of video play back – or a health combination of the two.
Ok, this bring to the end our look at two of the hottest phones on the market. We will have to wait and see how the market in the US take to the Google Nexus One mobile phone, before we know of it can challenge the iPhone. For now the signs are good for Google, but the $1000 price tag could put many people off and there have been rumours of a new Apple iPhone handset coming out soon.
