how did the camera manage to pan (follow) the movement of the shuttle lifting off from the moon surface

I recall watching the landing and the takeoff in real time in 1969. The images have be shown many times since then. The camera the recorded the take off was fixed. It did not pan. That is, the fundamental statement of this question is wrong!
