Did Lucille Ball crush a baby chicken on camera during an “I Love Lucy” episode?

In the I Love Lucy episode titled “Lucy Raises Chickens”, it appears as if Lucy unknowingly crushed a baby chick on camera. During the scene when Lucy and Ethel are feeding the baby chicks in the den, Lucy breaks open the side of the first box of chicks and tilts the box toward the feed spread on the newspaper. As she is lowering the box back to the floor, there are some chicks under the lowering box that attempt to run away. Keep your eye on this box when she begins to lower the box back to the floor. You can clearly see that there is one chick that stays under the box after she lowers it because the box is not flush against the floor like the others and you can still see some movement from the chick wiggling underneath. The chick is never rescued during the rest of the scene, and probably suffered under the weight of the box.
