Camera Tripods For Sale

What should look for buying a tripod?

There are various kind of cheap and expensive tripods available on sale at auction websites and high street, but do not know what shall I look for price, quality or make. I have Nikon D50 DSLR camera.

Check that it can do everything you want it for.
* can it hold the weight of your D50 + the heavyest lens you’ll ever use
* should it fold down small enough to fit in a back pack?
* should it reach to eye level at maximum height?
* should it be rugged enough to throw down a cliff?
* should it have a (simple) ball head, or will you get something fancy with triggers, quick release plates, etc. sepperately?
* etc.
You can get tripods for $20 and you can spend +1000. If you only plan on using it once in a blue moon, get something for around $60. Bogen/ Manfrotto and SLIK have good stuff.
