What are the benefits to getting a pro camcorder vs. a cannon 5d?

so with the cannon 5d you can record in all the same frame rates as a pro camera, it has any kind of lens you want but its like half the price of most cameras, what is the extra cash getting you with the pro camera, and by pro consumer camera i mean something like the jvc gyhm100u

Aside from the pro video camera having three sensors vs. one sensor on the DSLR, there is a second half to producing videos. That is the post production video editing portion.

To make the editing as easy as possible, some things have to be provided by the camera.

* Internal synchronization, sound/frame
* Headphone jack for monitoring sound
* Microphone jack — 2ch, 48kHz/16-bit
* Frame ratios of 4:3/16:9
* The GY-HM100 samples the image at 4:2:2 and can provide a live uncompressed 4:2:2 output via the HDMI port on the back of the camera. It is possible to store and edit 4:2:2 data if you have an input device on your computer, such as the Blackmagic Intensity Pro card. In live broadcast environments, the HDMI signal can be cross converted to HD-SDI with an outboard adapter.

The Canon 5D, Mark II is a fine still DSLR which has a video “feature”, not intended to replace video cameras.
